Why Choose Hercules?

SNG’s Hercules codend’s versatility makes it an ideal choice for blue whiting fishery. A season which can extend from February onwards, depending on the fishing grounds.

Built for durability; This codend ensures reliable performance in the harsher waters of Ireland, Scotland, and the Shetland Islands during spring. It also performs well in the northern regions where the season continues into autumn.

Hercules is built to endure the rigors of deep-water fishing, and can withstand extreme conditions.

Durability

Crafted from high-quality nylon braided mesh and the strongest braided rope, for long-lasting performance.

Customisation

Peace of Mind

Equipped with Hercules, fishermen can operate confidently, knowing their gear is built to last, even in challenging conditions.

Strength Behind Hercules

SNG’s Hercules codend is built on a foundation of strength and reliability. It features a tried-and-tested three-layer composition. Available in capacities of 600, 800, and 1,000 tonnes, Hercules can support significant weight while ensuring the safety and integrity of the catch.

Three-Layer Composition

  • Inner Layer: Crafted from tightly braided nylon, this layer comes in various weights—75m, 90m, and 106m per kilo—tailored to meet specific needs. This flexibility allows users to adapt the codend to the customers fishing style and the unique conditions of their fishing grounds.
  • Outer Layer: Featuring a triple mesh of braided nylon, the outer layer acts as a protective second skin, providing added resilience against the extreme forces encountered when fishing in deep waters. This design helps to prevent wear and tear, extending the codend’s lifespan.
  • Ribcage Support System: What sets Hercules apart is its Ribcage Support System, which incorporates 46 “ribs” made from durable Powerforce HMPE rope. These ribs enhance the structural integrity of the codend, preventing compromise during hauls and ensuring the codend remains intact under pressure.

Customisation at Our Fisherman’s Fingertips

SNG’s commitment to customisation means that the Hercules codend can be tailored to meet each fisherman’s specific requirements. During consultation, the needs of the fishermen can be discussed. Varying netting grades can be applied to the top and bottom as required. Which allows for lighter configurations when necessary.

This adaptability is crucial, especially during the challenging early part of the blue whiting season when conditions can be unpredictable.

There are options available for different netting grades, which ensures that fishermen can optimise their catch while minimising the risk of damage to their fishing gear.

This feature not only enhances fishing efficiency but also contributes to the overall longevity and durability of the codend.

By equipping themselves with Hercules, fishermen gain the flexibility and performance needed to tackle the demands of pelagic fishing confidently.
