At SNG, we believe in making a difference, not just in our work but also in our community. Inspired by the success of our previous fundraisers, like Christmas Jumper Day, we were excited to start a new initiative that would bring some colour to our workplace and support a local treasure: Killybegs Community Hospital
Purpose and Inspiration
Last Christmas, our team got together for Christmas Jumper Day and raised €1,550 for the Children’s Hospital. It was a heart warming and fun experience for everyone involved. Building on that positive energy, we wanted to create a similar vibe this summer, adding a tropical twist to our office and supporting a cause close to our hearts
Supporting Killybegs Community Hospital
The choice to support Killybegs Community Hospital was an easy one, sparked by discussions in our employee forum. Many of us have personal connections to the hospital, knowing someone who has benefitted from its services. We knew our efforts could make a real difference in our community.
Organisational Support
When the idea of a Hawaiian shirt fundraiser came up, the team was thrilled. Our first date was rained out, but we didn’t let that dampen our spirits. We rescheduled, and were rewarded with clear skies and even brighter moods on the big day.
Community Impact
The response from the Killybegs community has been overwhelmingly positive. The hospital gratefully said, “We would be delighted to accept any monies raised by your Hawaiian shirt day.” The funds we raised will go towards their Patient Comfort Fund, which helps enhance patients’ quality of life through extra equipment and activities.
On the day of the event, our office turned into a sea of vibrant colors. Hawaiian shirts, hats, leis, and even a few grass skirts made appearances, creating a festive and lively atmosphere. It was more than just a fundraiser; it was a celebration of community spirit and generosity.
Fundraising Success
We raised €1382.50 for the Patient Comfort Fund. Unlike previous fundraisers, we didn’t set specific goals. We just encouraged everyone to give what they could, knowing that participation and enthusiasm were the true measures of success. The result was more than just monetary—it was about coming together as a team for a common cause.
Team Participation
Our team fully embraced the spirit of the day, wearing their brightest Hawaiian outfits and spreading cheer throughout the office. We also partnered with Rockets Ice Cream, a local business, which added a delicious touch to our summer vibes with refreshing cones for everyone.
Future Plans
Looking ahead, we plan to continue our tradition of Christmas Jumper Day this year, while also brainstorming new ideas for future summer fundraisers. The success of our Hawaiian shirt day has inspired us to think creatively about how we can further engage with and support our community
Reflections
For many of us, wearing Hawaiian shirts wasn’t just about dressing up; it was about bringing some sunshine and fun into our daily routines. It reminded us of the power of coming together for a common purpose and reaffirmed our commitment to making a positive impact where we live and work.
Participating in this initiative has deepened our perspective on community involvement and charity. It was a reminder that even small actions can make a big difference, especially when driven by passion and shared commitment.
Gratitude and Acknowledgments
We want to thank everyone who participated, donated, and supported our Hawaiian shirt fundraiser. Your enthusiasm and generosity have made a real difference in the lives of those at Killybegs Community Hospital. Special thanks also to Rockets Ice Cream for their delicious contributions to our event.
In conclusion, our Hawaiian shirt fundraiser was more than just a fundraiser—it was a testament to the power of community, compassion, and creativity. We look forward to continuing our journey of giving back and making a positive impact, one colourful event at a time
Stay tuned for more exciting initiatives from SNG in the future!
