Spotlight on the Good & New Charity Shop

Founded in 2008 by a group of cancer patients who wanted to give back to their community, the Good & New Charity Shop has become a beacon of hope and support for those affected by cancer in Donegal. The charity offers a variety of services, with their flagship initiative being a free bus service for cancer patients travelling from Donegal to Galway for treatment. This service ensures that patients can access the care they need without the added stress of transportation logistics.

In addition to transportation, Good & New also part-funds accommodation through the Letterkenny University Hospital, easing the financial burden for patients and their families. The charity runs a drop-in center, providing a welcoming environment where individuals and families can receive high-quality, evidence-based information and support.

Our Visit to Good & New

In May, members of our team had the privilege of visiting the Good & New Charity Shop. James, Christy, and I were warmly welcomed by Lynn, Jeanette, Nancy, and the rest of the team. It was a pleasure to see firsthand the dedication and compassion that drives their work. The entire team was incredibly hospitable, making our visit both enlightening and enjoyable.

SNG’s Commitment to Good & New Charity Shop

At SNG, we believe in making a meaningful impact through our charitable contributions. In previous years, we made multiple small donations to many charities. This year, our employees collectively decided to focus our efforts on one deserving charity instead of dividing our donations among multiple smaller organisations.

After thoughtful consideration and a company-wide vote, we chose to support the Good & New Charity Shop. Our employees decided to donate a large portion of the funds we set aside—€2500—to the Good & New Charity Shop. This means we can still support smaller organisations as well.

Supporting Good & New Charity Shop is a cause close to our hearts at SNG. We are proud to contribute to an organisation that does so much for the Donegal community. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of those affected by cancer.
